Imported Car Sales are Vital to the Car Industry

The car industry is a worldwide industry, and when one facet of it is suffering, it all suffers. An example is the recent global recession that we are still fighting to get out of.

The car industry in the United States suffered massive blows in the past couple of years with thousands of jobs lost and even more lost in revenue. This scenario was probably due to bad management, but there was also another factor that played into the collapse of American auto makers.

Imported car sales from Europe and Japan took a major chunk of the profits from the American car makers. Unlike Europe and Japan where American companies have a very small piece of the market, imports in North America are huge and take up a sizeable percentage.

This is not a bad thing, imported cars give the consumers more choice, and it forces all the other companies to step up their production values in terms of quality. Even in Europe and Japan, imported car sales have forced domestic producers to change the way they make cars.

Some customers actually prefer buying imported cars because they believe they are of better quality, and in many cases they are correct. Imports offer customers more variety and force all car makers to produce better automobiles at affordable prices.
